Our Mission

To continue and encourage the collaborative efforts in the City of Wabasha for the economic development of the downtown district while strengthening our historic, art and cultural heritage.

About Wabasha Main Street

Wabasha Main Street (WMS) is a grass root organization of volunteers focusing on revitalizing our traditional downtown commercial district. WMS follows the Four Point Approach set forth by the National Main Street Program, a division of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The Four Points include:

  • Organization – building leadership, ensuring community engagement, and forging partnerships
  • Economic Vitality – Creating a diverse economic base, catalyzing new investment, cultivating strong entrepreneurship
  • Promotion – Marketing the district’s defining assets, communicating unique features, supporting buy-local experience
  • Design – Creating an inviting and inclusive atmosphere, celebrating the historic character, fostering accessible people-centered public spaces.

The WMS works closely with the City of Wabasha, the Wabasha Heritage Preservation Commission, the W-K Chamber of Commerce and the State Health Improvement Program.

As a Main Street America Affiliate™, Wabasha Main Street is part of a national network of more than 1,200 neighborhoods and communities who share both a commitment to creating high-quality places and to building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development.
