The Wabasha Bike Share Program is made possible by Wabasha Bike/Walk Advocates, comprised of a group of city officials, local merchants and citizens, with assistance from SHIP Coordinator Tina Moen. The group met for almost a year to find a way to provide bicycles for visitors and local residents who do not have a bike and want to explore the community to be active. Wabasha Public Works Director, Tony Johnson, has been helpful in identifying how the city can aid this venture and is the fiscal agent for the SHIP-funded project. Bike shop owner, Dave Wogen, of River Rider Cycle first proposed the idea and helped locate vendors. The Wabasha Main Street organization has been supportive as a great way to get people interested in the historic downtown and to be a healthy way to explore an active river town.
If you would like information on what it means to partner with Wabasha County SHIP on healthy eating, physical activity, and/or tobacco-free environment projects, please email Tina Moen or call her at 651-565-5200.
